Waste management for low carbon heat generation
Landfill and Waste
The greenhouse gas emissions generated by heating are substantial and, for this reason, it is necessary to implement low-carbon heat production solutions. We talked about this with Christian Calvillo Munoz from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, who explained to us how one of the key solutions comes from waste management. In fact, waste can not only be exploited in anaerobic digestion for the production of fuel (biomethane) that can be used for heating, but can also be incinerated for heat generation, perhaps through a cogenerator. A virtuous example is the city of Stockholm.
