What is the contribution of cogeneration in the future European and Polish energy mix?
Market and policy
Renewable energy will be crucial for the future decarbonised energy system, but fair prices and resilience are needed, and so far integrating energy systems seems to be the right approach. Cogeneration is part of the energy mix and now focuses on alternative sources such as hydrogen or other renewable gases and could play a crucial role above all in the decarbonisation of district heating. We asked Jędrzej Maśnicki from the Polish Association of Professional Heat and Power Plants (PTEZ) to talk to us about the contribution of cogeneration in this scenario for both Europe and Poland.
