The resilience, low environmental impact and high potential of cogeneration are the main reasons why it should be integrated into the U.S. energy mix alongside renewable energy sources, which are not always available. In California, for example, a target has been set for 50% of energy to come from renewable sources, but also for an increase in distributed energy generation. Some States are also aiming to involve final consumers more in the decision-making stage.
