Activated carbon filters for the biogas upgrading to biomethane
Applications and technologies
In a biogas upgrading plant, activated carbon filters allow both the removal of organic pollutants and the reduction of H2S through the adsorption process. For the former, the filters act like sponges absorbing the pollutants, while for the latter, a chemical reaction between the carbons and a metal catalyst allows H2S to be captured. In addition, activated carbons can be “reactivated”, thus making them a sustainable product.
