Anaerobic digestion with pig farm waste
Agriculture and breeding
Compared to those from other animals, pig effluents are much more diluted and have a lower methanogenic power for anaerobic digestion. However, small measures (such as less dilution by reducing the use of water) can allow farmers to exploit this material for biogas production. An example? With around 2,300 pigs and the addition of agricultural by-products (such as corn stalks), it would be possible to produce around 100 kW of electricity per hour.
