Biogas in Asia: what are the obstacles to its diffusion in the area?
Market and policy
Asia, with its 50 countries and enormous geographical coverage is certainly a very heterogeneous continent. This characteristic also affects the biogas sector. On the one hand there are countries like China, where the use of biogas has quickly expanded (around 5000 plants have already been installed), or Thailand (with 800 plants) or high-potential countries like Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam, thanks to abundant availability of waste from the palm oil industry. On the other hand, unfortunately we have countries where this technology is practically unknown.
But why is the biogas sector struggling to take off? Find out in this video interview with ICESN (International Clean Energy & Sustainability Network).
