The new report drafted by the CHP Alliance is titled "CHP and a Changing Climate: Reducing Emissions and Improving Resilience” and aims to show that cogeneration can be a viable solution to climate change, as it is able to reduce emissions into the atmosphere and is a reliable technology for continuous energy production. Lynn Kirshbaum, who wrote the report focusing on the American territory, explains how the so-called CHP 2.0, in other words, cogeneration from renewable sources such as biomethane, biogas and hydrogen, makes it possible to produce energy and heat more efficiently and with fewer emissions. Cogeneration is also highly resilient for critical structures as it can operate in isolation, that is, independent from the network, a key aspect that has been noted particularly during the COVID pandemic emergency.
