Cogeneration as an added value of microgrids
Energy efficiency and cogeneration
According to Elisa Wood, microgrids provide three main advantages: they enable the supply of energy in a reliable and resilient manner, as they can operate independently with respect to the grid; they guarantee economic savings because they operate without interruption and guarantee energy at competitive costs; they are sustainable, because many microgrids include renewable energies and can stabilize the grid in case of peaks. A microgrid can consist of various technologies, but cogeneration is a very efficient solution and guarantees the supply of energy in a constant and secure manner.
