Fuel cell microcogeneration: consumer-approved PACE project
Market and policy
During the trial phase of the PACE project, the aim was to install 2,500 fuel cell microcogeneration units, demonstrating greater efficiency and reliability of the systems. The quantitative objective has been reached and exceeded (2,600 plants), together with the qualitative one, despite the fact that in recent years unexpected events such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and price inflation have impacted on the experimentation. In addition, during the trial phase, end users were asked to fill out evaluation surveys that gave overall positive feedback, showing the willingness of consumers to opt for green technologies, thus making their contribution to reducing emissions.
