Meeting the energy needs of an automotive company with a trigeneration plant: the BWI Group case
Case history
The BWI Group, an automotive company that produces suspensions and brakes for major car manufacturers, operates all over the world with factories, test tracks and technical centers. One of the company's most important research and development centers is located near Krakow and it is here that a 1 MW trigeneration plant has been installed. The company needed a large amount of electricity and heat that could not be fully met by the national grid, so it decided to invest in cogeneration, also taking advantage of the recovery of process heat for heating and cooling buildings, thus avoiding the use of a boiler. In addition, with a view to decarbonization, the plant has been designed to also run on biogas in the near future.
