Interest in biogas as a fuel is also growing in the UK, particularly for heavy vehicles such as lorries or tractors. However, the true potential of this fuel lies in the large rural areas that are far from the connection points to the gas network. How can this problem be remedied? The solution is based on biomethane compressed on site, which would make it possible to have small refuelling stations directly in the local communities, on farms and in factories to refuel vehicles working or operating nearby. Thanks to this approach a genuine Virtual Gas Network (VGN) would be created, which has the potential to really contribute to the decarbonisation of transport in the UK.
