Pune, India: biogas for cooking is produced from scraps from a school canteen

In the city of Pune, India, a small-scale plant collects approximately 250 kg of food waste every day to produce biogas. The waste mainly comes from a school canteen, which then reuses the biogas produced for cooking, which amounts to approximately 50-100 m3 of methane per day. The virtuous circle also includes food waste from restaurants, families and local markets.
