Quality fresh and frozen potatoes in a green perspective: Pizzoli's experience
Case history
With a 2 MW cogeneration plant installation, Pizzoli, Italian producer of fresh and frozen potatoes, got a 30% saving on energy bills and reduced emissions of CO2 into the atmosphere by 2,000 tonnes/year. A great achievement for a company that consumes over 15 GWh and works non-stop. The electricity produced by the plant is partly used in production processes and in part sold to the grid, while the heat energy is used both in steam for the peeling and drying and water for the cooking.
