Renewable propane produced from the Camelina plant: a sustainable solution for cogeneration plants?

                      Renewable gases

Jim Bunsey, Director of Commercial Business Development at the Propane Education and Research Council, explains that renewable propane, derived from the Camelina plant, represents a sustainable solution to power cogeneration plants. This type of propane from plants, in fact, has an overall lower environmental impact than that obtained from fossil resources and carbon intensity (which represents the amount of carbon emissions associated with the production and use of propane) of zero, as well as the ability to be mixed in a 1% to 100% ratio with the existing infrastructure. For these reasons, renewable propane certainly plays a role in the future energy context of the United States, in particular as a replacement for natural gas.
