The Green-e® Renewable Fuels standard for the certification of RNG/biomethane from waste
Market and policy
The Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) is a non-profit organization committed to the promotion of sustainable energy. The Center has been working for some time to create a new standard for the certification of RNG or biomethane from waste (landfills, food waste, wastewater, etc.) called the Green-e Renewable Fuels Standard. The goal is to encourage the adoption of this type of gas, while ensuring that it comes from renewable and sustainable resources, not only to protect customers who will use it, but also producers who can make the most of their product.
Pending the final release of the standard, expected by the end of 2020, we spoke with Rachael Terada, Director of CSR, to learn more.
