Ireland and Biomethane: Potential and challenges in this interview with IrBEA
Market and policy
Seán Finan, CEO of the Irish Bioenergy Association, shared with us during Biomethane Day Ireland that the biomethane market in Ireland is still in its early stages, but is gaining strong momentum. This is due not only to the National Biomethane Strategy but also to the upcoming Renewable Heat Obligation and Ireland’s strong agricultural tradition, which provides abundant feedstock for anaerobic digestion. Biomethane is crucial for energy security and the development of rural areas in Ireland, but investment certainty and concrete support measures are essential for the sector to grow.
