Understanding how BPA and CPB instruments work with ATEE
Market and policy
We explore the functioning of the BPA and CPB instruments, which are essential for biomethane sales, with ATEE. In this video interview, Raphaël Boukobza, a legal expert from Club Biogaz, explains that BPAs (Biogas Purchase Agreements) are private agreements between a biomethane seller and buyer. They are not incentive tariff contracts and are usually long-term. Biogas Production Certificates (CPBs), on the other hand, are contracts involving obligated entities—such as gas suppliers—who must purchase a certain quantity of biomethane to meet regulatory or environmental targets.
