In Ireland, the biomethane sector is entering a phase of rapid growth, driven by new investments, plant construction, and ambitious national targets for 2030. However, achieving these goals will require a clear and consistent regulatory framework, including harmonised planning procedures, standards for digestate, and effective implementation of the European RED III sustainability requirements. The Irish Bioenergy Association plays a key role in supporting this transition by providing technical expertise, contributing to policy development, and promoting best practices across the sector.
