What’s new in the new UNI TS 11567 standard: changes to the calculation of emissions for the sustainability of biomethane
Market and policy
The new UNI TS 11567 standard is being published and the innovations introduced mainly concern two aspects: the scope of application of biomethane has been expanded, which is no longer only identified for transport but also for other uses; the calculations for determining emissions and achieving the sustainability of biomethane have been revised. In particular, for this second point, plants with auxiliaries powered by fossil sources are differentiated from those powered by renewable sources. In this way, in order to comply with the strict calculations imposed by the European Commission, it is now easier – in the case of auxiliaries with renewable sources – to ensure compliance and achieve sustainability.
