8 billion m3 per year of biomethane/RNG: this is the theoretical production potential in Italy

According to the CIB position paper, the potential is enormous: even though the figure of 8 billion m3 is a theoretical potential, which would be hard to achieve, it is also true that by converting all the operational biogas plants we could already produce 3 billion m3 of biomethane/RNG per year. However, there is a lack of incentives, which would provide a certainty of payback on the investment.
