Anaerobic digestion of chicken manure: reducing ammonia inhibition
Research
The anaerobic digestion of chicken manure presents a number of problems, foremost among which are a high organic nitrogen content and the fermentation stage. By lowering temperatures it is possible to reduce ammonia inhibition by up to 50%. DBFZ is also studying the mono-digestion processes of chicken manure, currently treated by co-digestion.
