Biogas and digestate, an economic and environmental opportunity for India’s rural areas
Agriculture and breeding
The spread of biogas can significantly improve the economy of rural areas, particularly in agricultural countries such as India. Instead of burning agricultural residues, which contribute to pollution, these can be converted into biogas, creating economic development in rural areas and facilitating the achievement of the NetZero target by 2070, as stated by the Prime Minister during the Glasgow COP. A further advantage for farmers is given by what can be defined as the “brown revolution”, in other words the production and sale of digestate, a biofertiliser that improves soil health.
