Biomass for the production of biomethane according to the Biomethane Ter Decree: what are the changes and rules for sustainability?
Market and policy
The application rules of the so-called Ter Biomethane Decree, issued and entered into force in January 2023, specify the raw materials that can be used for the production of biomethane. The procedures provide that for biomethane destined to “other uses”, there are no particular restrictions related to biomass that can be used. There are several rules for biomethane intended for transport, which must be classified as “advanced”. So what has changed from the 2018 Decree? And what are the changes in terms of biomethane sustainability? Let's find out with the CIB - Italian Biogas Consortium
