Biomethane from biomethanization: the success story of the city of Pfaffenhofen

With 100% renewable energy, Pfaffenhofen aims to be one of the most energy efficient and greenest cities. In fact, as Doris Hafenbradl tells us, in addition to using energy produced by photovoltaic and wind-power plants, the biomethanization process has been implemented at the city’s purification plant, which makes it possible to reduce CO2, store and transport electricity from renewable energy sources in the form of biomethane that is fed into the local grid.
