Biomethane/RNG from the distillation of wine lees and fruit waste: Distillerie Mazzari gives value to organic waste
Case history
From the waste of the production of ethyl alcohol and tartaric acid, the historic Distillerie Mazzari company based in Romagna has been producing biogas since the 1980s and in 2010 installed two cogenerators for the production of electricity. In 2020, the company decided to upgrade its biogas plant for the production of 1000 m3/h of biomethane fed into the grid, available to the entire community. The solid digestate produced by anaerobic digestion is instead used as a natural soil improver in agriculture. Distillerie Mazzari is a clear example of how food waste can be valued!
