EBA: here are the growth figures characterising the biomethane sector in Europe
Our in-depth analysis with EBA, the European Biogas Association, continues. In this interesting video we take stock of the biomethane sector in Europe. EBA’s analysis shows that the installed capacity of biomethane in Europe reached 6.4 billion cubic metres (bcm) at the beginning of 2024, an increase of 32% compared to 2022. Leading the way are EU countries including, in particular, Germany, France, the UK, Italy and Denmark, with Germany and France together contributing almost 40% of the total capacity. Investments of €27 billion are planned in the sector, which are expected to lead to an additional 6.3 bcm/year of biomethane capacity in Europe, equal to about 950 new plants by 2030. Find out more in the EBA report and browse to discover the installed plants with their interactive map.
