Energy efficiency at a dairy industry: a challenge embracing both innovation and tradition
Case history
Milk pasteurisation and concentration plants are incredibly energy consuming and that’s why Silvio Belladelli’s dairy opted for cogeneration. The 1.2 MW plant installed in 2014 supplies electricity which is used entirely at the dairy and hot water at a temperature of 85°/90° for the production process, for heating and hot water. In 2016, the plant operated for more than 8,000 hours, meeting 80% of the company’s energy needs and guaranteeing energy savings of 25%.
