Europe: biomethane/RNG and mobility, NGVA points to the future of the transport sector
Sustainable mobility
Italy is the European leader in the sale of gas vehicles, and is therefore a very favourable market for the distribution of biomethane/RNG to the transport sector. Sweden remains the main user of biomethane, followed by the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. Based on sales estimates for road vehicles in the next few years, it is estimated that by 2030 there will be 50 million vehicles in Europe powered by gas, renewable or not. The potential for biomethane/RNG is therefore very high, as we discuss with Matthias Maedge of NGVA.
