European Renewable Gas Registry: the project to track the trade of biomethane/RNG is ready to go
Market and policy
Set-up in Ghent during the 2016 EBA Conference, the European Renewable Gas Registry is an independent, transparent and trustworthy documentation scheme for mass balancing of biomethane/RNG distributed along the European natural gas network. A crucial role is also played by the national biomethane registries, whose aim is that of tracking, confirming and documenting the biomethane/RNG transactions along the contractual chain. Eight European countries have already agreed, but there’s still a long way to go.
