Italgas' initiatives to support the development of Italy’s biomethane sector
Market and policy
Italgas, in its role as a gas distributor, has launched a series of initiatives to support the development of the biomethane sector. The objectives include reducing the costs of network connections, by reviewing the designs of the connection systems to reallocate a higher part of the costs on the system and less on the individual manufacturer and, finally, to manage volumes, ensuring interconnection between several networks or using reverse flow systems.
Lorenzo Romeo, Corporate Strategy Director at Italgas, clearly illustrates all the initiatives underway and unveils a future in which the existing network will not only support the flow of gas and biomethane, but also of green hydrogen and green methane.
