Italian Energy-Bill Decree: what changes for biogas and biomethane
Associations
The Energy-Bill Decree, designed to contain energy costs and reorganize support measures, also brings changes for biogas and biomethane. The measures focus on two goals: protecting existing plants and encouraging technological evolution. Operational biogas plants will continue to benefit from guaranteed minimum prices, with a clear push to gradually convert to biomethane while avoiding sudden penalties. For biomethane, the role of the Agriculture Decree is reinforced, promoting industrial use and keeping its value for consumers. The CIB, together with agricultural associations, has defended current production. Now Parliament must ensure the measures support the transition without jeopardizing existing plants.
