LIFE Landfill Biofuel: how to provide value to municipal waste by transforming it into renewable fuel

The objective of the European LIFE Landfill Biofuel project is to generate renewable fuel (biomethane/RNG) for road transport from the anaerobic decomposition of municipal solid waste. The pilot phase of the project, with a total duration of 4 years, has been activated at the waste treatment center in the city of Alhendín and aims to demonstrate its technological and economic feasibility and its replicability in other waste collection centers in Spain and other European countries.
