Mexico: how can the anaerobic digestion of activated sludge and solid organic waste be optimised?
Research
The anaerobic co-digestion of active sludge and solid organic waste not only enables this type of waste to be exploited but also increases the production of biogas, hydrogen and methane by 30%. This emerges from an interesting research project at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico which, together with other universities and a number of industrial partners, belongs to a research cluster studying the recovery of waste for the production of bioenergy.
