More sustainable and ethical biogas production with Panicum Virgatum
Research
Panicum Virgatum is a perennial plant native to North America, more recently arrived in Europe, which grows in marginal areas without therefore taking up space for the cultivation of maize for food use. This aspect is very important and interesting, making switchgrass a valid substitute for corn as a raw material for the production of biogas. Some studies have shown that this plant can be used as biomass with excellent yields if harvested in September. It has also been highlighted that Arundo Donax and Miscanthus can also be used for the production of biogas.
