Pilot-SBG: the German project for innovative renewable methane production
Applications and technologies
The Pilot-SBG project aims to develop an innovative pilot plant for the production of renewable methane, including both biomethane and synthetic methane, for sectors that are difficult to electrify. The integration of innovative processes and cutting-edge technologies allows for increased methane yield and the production of valuable by-products from urban organic waste and residues. The plant enables the collection of research-relevant data and has been built and tested at the DBFZ in Leipzig - Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum gemeinnützige GmbH (DBFZ), a federal institution conducting applied research on the energetic and integrated material use of biomass.
