Transnational biomethane/RNG trade in the absence of incentives
Market and policy
Attila Kovács explains the main issues for the European trade in biomethane/RNG, ranging from support schemes that are still operated at national level to the absence of any legislation on gaseous biofuels or import incentives. This all leads to a lack of interest in trade beyond national borders, with current transactions therefore based on the willingness of consumers to pay for higher value, as is the case in Switzerland. The opening up of this market remains of fundamental importance.
