Biogas News in Italy: deadlines for Sustainability Certification extended and biomass issues clarified
Market and policy
The Milleproroghe Decree 2025 has extended the deadlines for sustainability certification. As explained by Lorella Rossi from CIB - Consorzio Italiano Biogas, the new deadline for submitting certification is December 31, 2025, but this new date is only valid if, by May 31, 2025, the biogas plant owner has an official certification quote. In addition to this, recent clarifications have addressed issues that could have made biomass procurement difficult, confirming that it remains possible to transfer biomass to multiple plants, as long as there are no intermediaries.
