Biogenic CO₂ and carbon capture
Applications and technologies
CO₂ capture, especially from biogenic sources, is becoming a key element in achieving climate targets, particularly in Denmark.
By 2030, CCS could account for up to 10–15% of the required emissions reductions, while the main share will still need to come from transport, energy, and agriculture.
In the biogas and biomethane sector, CO₂ is no longer seen as just a “waste,” but as a resource: several projects are already scaling up its capture.
The clear direction is shifting away from storage for its own sake and toward using CO₂ to produce new fuels and energy products.
