Brazil: inauguration of the mega landfill biogas plant in Rio Grande do Sul
Case history
The first landfill biogas plant of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, has been inaugurated in Minas do Leão . It is powered by over 3,500 tonnes of waste a day. The cogeneration plant produces 8.5 megawatts of electrical energy at full capacity, providing energy to over 200,000 people.
