Europe: 41 bcm of biomethane/RNG could be produced with the available raw materials
Market and policy
A recent study by Guidehouse has shown that the quantity of biomass present in Europe can guarantee a production of biomethane/RNG of 41 bcm by 2030. But what raw materials are available in Europe? Mainly agricultural residues, organic waste and waste water, but there is also a potential for second-harvest crops. The European countries with a greater number of agricultural areas and therefore with a greater quantity of biomass are Italy, Germany, Spain, France and Poland.
