Europe excludes biomethane/RNG from alternative transition fuels: 200 companies intervene in its defence
Sustainable mobility
In February 2023, the European Commission published its proposal for a regulation for the reduction of CO2 emissions from heavy and passenger vehicles: only electricity and hydrogen were considered as alternative fuels. Biofuels, including biomethane/RNG, have been phased out, jeopardising the ecological transition of road transport. Why this decision? We talked about this with Erwan Cotard, president of the NGV French association, which collected around 200 signatories to present Europe with a declaration in defence of the role of biomethane/RNG.
