Hungary is ready to sell biomethane/RNG to Europe
Market and policy
Biogas produced from the residues of a sugar factory in Kaposvár (Hungary) is transported to Central Europe to be sold in Germany and Switzerland. Among the main obstacles to the project, there is the lack of regulations and certifications concerning biomethane/RNG in the various countries. The size of the plant, its feedstocks and the ability to compete with the Central European price system instead are among the main requirements to be able to trade this fuel successfully.
