In 2030, 20% of the gas used in France will come from biomethane/RNG
Market and policy
In 2022, about 400 plants are supplying biomethane/RNG into the national gas grid in France, which corresponds to approximately 7 terawatts/hours and 2% of total gas production. According to forecasts, by 2030 the gas released into the grid from biomethane/RNG will be 20%. An ambitious but achievable percentage according to GRDF’s Rami Hariri, who stresses that this is a green resource produced and consumed at the local level, which enhances waste and generates employment.
