Optimizing revenue from electricity sales through the flexibility of biogas plants in Germany
Market and policy
The Bayerische Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft (LfL), or the Bavarian State Institute for Agriculture, is a research and advisory institution located in Bavaria, Germany. It promotes the development of sustainable agriculture by providing technical and scientific support to farmers. In this interview, Martin Strobl from LfL discusses how biogas plants in Germany can increase revenue by selling electricity during high-demand hours, thanks to the flexibility of the plant. By operating in a price-oriented manner, they can avoid hours with negative prices and inject more energy during peak price hours, achieving up to +2.7 cents/kWh compared to baseload feed-in.
