Energy, food and climate: the new balance comes through biogas
Market and policy
The link between energy, agriculture, food and climate is becoming increasingly tight and inseparable.
In the agri-food supply chain, energy is essential, but it still largely comes from fossil sources, which are responsible for around 30% of the sector’s emissions.
Renewables, and especially biogas, can reduce both emissions and food waste by turning residues into energy and fertilisers. According to the FAO, integrating these approaches into national policies is key to building more sustainable agri-food systems and attracting targeted investment. Let’s explore this in the interview.
