Proxigas and the role of biomethane in Italy’s energy security
Associations
Biomethane could become one of the key drivers of Italy’s energy independence, especially thanks to one of the most extensive gas pipeline networks in Europe, already capable of distributing it efficiently across the country. In this context, Proxigas plays an important role as the association representing the leading companies in the gas sector and the country’s energy infrastructure operators, actively supporting the energy transition. For both industry and residential use, full electrification of energy consumption still appears slow and complex, while biomethane offers a practical and immediately available solution. Expanding its use means enhancing locally produced renewable resources and reducing dependence on energy imports.
