Readily available and affordable biomethane/RNG: the fuel for decarbonising heavy vehicles
Market and policy
What will the UK transport sector look like in 2050? To ensure that the decarbonisation targets have been met by that year, the transition must begin now. Operators in the heavy-duty vehicle sector are well aware of the fact that they have a significant impact on the level of emissions and that they should immediately switch to alternative fuels. But if hydrogen and electricity still seem far from being accessible to heavy vehicles, biomethane/RNG, on the contrary, is ready here and now. In addition to being readily available, it is also cheaper than other fuels (such as biodiesel for example) and guarantees emissions savings of almost 90%.
