Romania: Genesis Biopartner's new biogas plant from organic waste

                  Case history

In Cordun, Romania, one of the largest biogas plants for the production of energy from organic waste was inaugurated, owned by Genesis Biopartner, a leading company in the sector. The state-of-the-art facility can process up to 55,000 tonnes of biodegradable organic waste per year from supermarkets, retail, hotels and restaurants. The waste is treated and subsequently conveyed to fermenters for the production of biogas. The biogas feeds two cogenerators that produce electricity (for self-consumption and for the grid) and thermal energy (used for digestate treatment). A virtuous model, as well as an important point of reference for the local community of farmers, which are supplied with organic fertiliser.
