Spireat: spirulina produced from synergies between biogas and technological innovations
Case history
The e-BioPond technology makes it possible to recover nutrients from organic and agricultural food waste to be used as nutrition for microalgae that can grow without the aid of chemical substances. This technology can therefore be used to grow beneficial algae such as spirulina, which in this case can be considered as 100% organic. This is the scenario at Azienda Spirufarm in Cremona, which produces Spirulina Spireat with the help of e-BioPond and a biogas plant that heats the greenhouse used for production. A story that shows how the synergies between technological innovation can lead to the development of products in line with social and environmental accountability.
