Biomass available in the Greek region of East Macedonia and Thrace for the production of biomethane
Applications and technologies
A study on biomass availability in the Greek region of East Macedonia and Thrace identified a potential of approximately 2.2 million tonnes of biomass (manure, organic waste, straw) in this area, sufficient to produce approximately 400,000 tonnes of biogas and biomethane. The amount of biomass for energy production could increase if double cropping (sequential cropping) were introduced.
